De laatste tijd is echter het alternatieve computerbesturingssysteem Linux® steeds meer in opkomst. In deze informatiebrochure wordt dieper ingegaan op de achtergrond van Linux en worden de ervaringen van Linuxgebruikers aan de hand van een aantal praktijkvoorbeelden uiteengezet.

This short report details the possibilities of Linux Terminal Server (Free Software) to save money in schools and throughout the educational system. The Roman Catholic Schoolboard financed this pilot project.

De memo beschrijft een plan om op kostenbesparende wijze het aantal computers op scholen te vergroten. De kostenbesparingen zitten daarbij met name in de aanschafkosten van computers, maar ook in de onderhoud en vervangingskosten.
